Qatar ranked first in the world in the Internet penetration rate among the total population by 99 percent, according to the "Digital Status in 2021" report, issued by the global "Hot Sweet" Foundation, which specializes in managing social networking sites, and internet and mobile statistics, which are issued an annual report to monitor the status of digitization and the levels of spread of modern communication technologies with its various tools in all countries of the world.
According to the report, Qatar ranked first in the world in terms of speed of connection to the mobile Internet, where the number of internet users in Qatar reached 2.88 million people in January, outperforming many countries in the world in this regard, as the number of internet users increased by 29 thousand users, and by 1 percent between 2020-2021.
The number of social media users in Qatar increased to 2.87 million, after amounting to 2.83 million individuals during the past year, which amounts to 98.8 percent of Qatar's total population of 2.91 million. The number of users of social media via mobile phone reached 2.85 million, accounting for 99.3 percent of the population.
